Project Services Lead

PBS (Semco UK) are looking for a Project Services Lead to join the E&C team. This role reports Hierarchically to the Engineering & Construction Department Manager.

As a Project Control Lead, you will be accountable for developing and managing the project controls service for the E&C department. Support the Planning Governance Manager and Cost Control Manager in implementing and maintaining project control processes across the portfolio of projects. The Project Control Lead is responsible for supporting audits, reviews and approvals as the need arises by any individual contract to ensure we consistently meet the expectations of all stakeholders.     

Details/duties:

  • Agree budgets for, recruit and lead & provide support / training to Project Control team including Planners, Cost Engineers and Estimators
  • Engage with business services team
  • Support the E&C Department Manager, Planning Governance Manager, Cost Control Manager and Project Delivery Lead in implementing best practice
  • Drive ownership and accountability to manage change of the work scope tasks throughout the project team
  • Liaise with client project controls functions and management
  • Provide input to weekly and monthly client meetings.
  • Drive interfacing with the Planning Governance Manager, Lead Cost Engineer and Lead Estimator to ensure alignment of process, deliverables, and systems where appropriate
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures for controlling of projects
  • Ensure correct project controls tools and methodologies are applied
  • Establish and manage the inputs and outputs of the project performance indicators
  • Drive input to Weekly or Monthly department performance reports
  • Alongside the Planning Governance Manager develop, proceduralise and then implement Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies to drive performance
  • Support the Identification and reporting of schedule & cost risks & opportunities and support the management of change, growth and variation
  •  Support the Planning Governance Manager and Cost Control Manager to develop Schedule & Cost Risk Analysis (SRA, CRA) procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance within the Project Control team
  • Analyse project data to enable early identification of problems and drive positive behaviours towards mitigating actions
  • Create E&C specific reports to allow input to client annual budgeting cycle
  • Support E&C Cost Engineers with analysis of cost report data
  • Establish and manage the inputs and outputs of the project performance indicators
  • Review rejected invoices
  • Manage PSS budgets, cost allocation and invoicing

Qualifications/Experience required:

  • Languages: English
  • Experience on full project lifecycles within a Project Controls or Project Engineering function
  • Contract knowledge – experience in various forms of EPC contracting.
  • Experience with an integrated project controls system.
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 data collection and analysis tools including PowerBI
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Must have strong working knowledge of project controls theory and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, diligence, and self-discipline.

  • Delivery focused and committed to achievement of project/company goals.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
  • Formal Project Controls Qualification (Cost or Planning Pathway)
