Team PBS recognise Stroke Awareness Month

Yesterday, 8th May, Team PBS’ Wellbeing Committee were honoured to host stroke survivor David Jones, speaking on behalf of the Grampian Stroke Club and Stroke Association Scotland, to recognise National Stroke Awareness Month.

David is a passionate and inspirational public speaker, and struck a chord with many in his audience. He shared the moving story of own stroke journey, highlighting that prevention is key, but not always enough.

He and Andrea Watt shared stories, reinforced FAST  as a key tool in identifying a suspected stroke…

  • Facial weakness
  • Arm weakness
  • Speech problems
  • Time to call 999)

And fielded a host of questions. We highly recommend you reach out to Andrea, andrea.watt@stroke.org.uk to arrange a similar awareness talk, and remember the Stroke Association when considering fundraising opportunities.

Stroke is one of the most common killers in Scotland. Funding research is essential to help find new ways and drive improvements in how we can stop stroke happening and support people after stroke.

Thanks to all involved for an excellent Lunch & Learn opportunity.
